Grateful Monday 12/5/11

05 Dec

I’m so grateful for everything in my life right now. There are still some hard things in it, but lots and lots of fun things are happening too. Busy, busy, busy! I’m sure many of you are in the same situation getting ready for the holidays. I have recipes I will be sharing with you, dolls I’m making for granddaughters. You’ll get the first peak. :) We’ve been Christmas shopping and wrapping and adding up ingredients for cookies, it all takes time doesn’t it? I am enjoying working on these things though, hope you are too. “Wherever you are, be all there.” Jim Elliot. Yes, I want to be all here and fully conscious of my life, it’s busy-ness and the joy that is here if I just let myself realize it.

Every Monday I try to share my gratitude list. I am part of the community over at Ann Voskamp’s A Holy Experience. I love her introduction of herself, you can read it here and see if it touches you as well if you like. The list helps me focus on the good in my life, my happy moments. The simple things and the complex loves of my life. I am very grateful for this discipline that is growing in me to remember to appreciate the many good and beautiful things around me. You see, it is very very easy for me to focus on the heavy things, the hard things, the things that go bump in my life. I have to work diligently to remember to be grateful, to look for opportunities of gratitude. That may sound like a bad thing to you, but it has been a very very good thing for me. :)

Goodness is all around us, even in the busy times. Even in the hard times. We just have to learn how to appreciate it I think. So, here is my little list for today, I’m grateful for:

1. Christmas, and the love it represents. He came for love’s sake, not for the sake of rules and regulations.

2. Lists, and recipes, and books and ingredients and chocolate and sugar.

3. For friends and family to give to, for dolls to make and presents to find and joy to share in living life and giving and receiving love and comfort from each other as well as things as simple as a gift.

4. For Natilee, because she helped me today and asked me to tell you so. :) She is the eldest granddaughter that lives with me. I really enjoyed her helping me today, she was reading out the cookie recipes so we could share them with you in a few days. Yum!

5. For help from Boyfriend too. It comes in handy to have a couple of extra hands around sometimes, doesn’t it?

6. For warm home, and soft bed and running water and clean clothes. I am grateful for my blessings.

7. For remembering trust is important, when I trust that God loves me and looks out for me I don’t have to give in to worry and dread.

8. I’m also grateful I started sewing the dolls I aim to give as prezzies in 20 days or so. They aren’t going to make themselves.

9. For plans for my life, for my businesses and for the hope and promise the future holds.

10. For Christmas movies and cartoons that remind us all how important family and friends are. I especially love Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer. The Island Of Misfit Toys is where some of my best friends used to live. :)

11. I am grateful for fun, and some upcoming things will be fun for me! One will happen tomorrow, I will be the Fine Feathered Friend for the 12/6 Flock Together Tuesday Blog Hop hosted by Mom’s Best Nest. Then later in December I will be a Grilled Grandma on Grandma’s Briefs. Finally, the end of the month brings my next birthday, the big 5-0! Not to mention Christmas Eve and Christmas. Sounds to me like it’s gonna be more fun than one month can hold! “Woo-hoo,” as Yukon Cornelius would say. :) Woo-hoo indeed. Have a wonderful week! Angela

Grateful Monday – 11/27/2011

28 Nov

I love my grandchildren, they are a special joy and blessing to me. I was able to have Thanksgiving on Sunday with 3 of the 6, and with my dad. My son’s family would have come, but their car broke down, and they couldn’t make it. But it was so much fun to hang out with the ones who could make it and listen to their conversations and join in. :) I really am blessed to have my 3 children and their 6 children as my grandbabies. It was a lot of fun to be together. My Dad is always so much fun, and the grandbabies of course love him as much as he loves them! We had a wonderful afternoon together!

I keep running through things in my mind. I had a very tough week last week, so that made my time with my family even nicer. I’m so happy I have my goals list and my life plan in place and growing now. It has made the rough patch I’m in a little easier to deal with. Changes are in the air again and I want to believe I am prepared for them. The new job is good so far, still just getting broken in to my new routine. I have come up with an idea for helping myself with my business too which I will share with you over the next 3 days. So, a very productive weekend with lots of fun family time thrown in! Here are a few points of gratitude to add to my running list:

1. I’m grateful for the holidays and the time we plan to spend with family.

2. I’m thankful for grandsons who like to write sweet notes.

3. Grateful my granddaughters wanted to make cards for their Poppa. He was so proud of his turkey cards!

4. I’m happy for the new job, and the opportunity I will have with an extra day off to pursue a couple of other ideas.

5. Change. I will be grateful for it, but it also frightens me sometimes. I’m a creature of habit, and eventually the new routine will be natural. But for now it’s still new. :)

6. For reassurance from God a couple of days ago that I’m on the right track.

7. Grateful that I was also reminded that God’s love and comfort are real and available to me, if I want it.

8. Grateful that my grandkids jumped right in to make cards for me to send to the Red Cross for service people (Holiday Mail for Heroes).

9. I won a blog award, and I am really grateful for the encouragement it gave me.

10. I’m grateful for my readers and bloggy friends. :) That means you!

Hope you are having a grateful Monday, and that you have a great week! Talk to you tomorrow, Angela

Grateful Mondays 11/21/2011

21 Nov
This is a Grateful Monday post from the archives, hope you are having a Grateful Monday too! Angela
Lots of rain and storms last week...

Clearing after a storm….

This past week was slammed! I did not mean to, but we all do it from time to time. I had myself booked every day and night for a week! UGH! I hate it when that happens, and normally I work very hard not to do that to myself. Oh well. :) I survived and had several things I was very grateful for during it all.

1. I was very grateful Monday that there is an end to a work day. Man! My co-worker and I had done a whole days work by 10 AM that morning, every crazy thing and problem you can think of either called, walked or crawled into our office. It was not a fun day. So as I said I was very grateful for the end of the work day Monday.

2. Tuesday came and was fairly busy too, but not in the crazy, running wild way Monday was. I had a lovely visit from a dear friend for a little while sharing beautiful pics of her newest grandbaby, a beautiful little girl with a head full of hair. She had flown across the country to be with her daughter after the birth, and she had a very busy but lovely 2 1/2 weeks with them. I am thankful for shared grandmother joys. Yay!

3. I was also grateful for time shared with Boyfriend Tuesday night. He had spent the weekend before away with his family and we didn’t get to see each other much the week before he left. We had a seminar to go to, so we didn’t get to just hang together, but it was very nice to be with him even with the busy-ness of the evening. If you want to check out some info about what we learned, you can click here. :)

4. Wednesday I was grateful for friends who help me figure out career issues. I have signed up for some business coaching and need a little help with a long questionnaire that I have to answer before I begin my coaching time. I have done pretty well on it, but got a little stuck on a few things. It was nice to have 2 of my best buds to talk it over with, Kitchen Stuff I Love Steph and Raspberry Moon Nikki.

5. I am grateful for: Sushi! I didn’t know I loved it until I started dating Boyfriend, but boy do I! I eat wa-a-a-y too much of the stuff every chance I get, and the girls and I had sushi Wednesday night. Yummy!

6. Thursday evening I got to have my Valentine facial Boyfriend bought for me, from Nikki. It is a wonderful treat to get in to see her. I was bad and didn’t book my evening appointment until a few weeks ago, otherwise I could have been in sooner, but I am so glad I got in Thursday! Nikki used a new red wine treatment on me and I loved it! The toner felt like liquid velvet going over my skin. I don’t know if you use toner or not, the kinds Nikki has recommended to me in the past feel fine, but none of them have ever felt this good! I’m telling ya, it was fantastic!

7. By Friday, I kinda felt like pooh! Good things to do are great, but too many good things are still too many! I am grateful that the work week for me ends on Friday. We went out and bought birthday gifts for the 2 May birthday granddaughters, and had a little dinner. I found some fun stuff at the store too, movies and such. It was a nice evening.

Artisphere Preview

8. I am grateful for the events downtown Greenville, SC has. This weekend it was Artisphere, and I will be doing a couple of separate blogs about it later this week. Fun! It was almost like a mini circus, lots and lots to see and enjoy. And we cleaned out both of our cars on Saturday, and trust me! I am always grateful for a clean car! :)

9. I was grateful watching Granddaughters open their birthday gift from us, seeing the cute little “O’s” their mouths make over the strangest things….the oldest opened the cables to a new game system. We thought we were being clever, and she would think all she was getting was a few wires for her birthday, but No-o-o-o! She knew what they went to, a Wii system. She is only 7 folks. :) Couldn’t pull one over on her! Her 2 year old sister opened a controller and even acted excited because her Sissy did. Lol! They were lots of fun to watch just opening it. Then you get to laugh and smile watching them play it. Very grateful for moments like this.

Butterfly piñata

10. Sunday was another day to be grateful. Our whole family got together to celebrate the girls birthdays at the park and it was wonderful! My Dad was able to come too, and we always love seeing him. The weather was nice at the park too, lots of clouds kept it from being too hot. There was a very cute Butterfly pinata that the kids whacked on for about 10 minutes! Finally Daughter pulled it open and let them have the candy and toys. All in all a wonderful day!

So, how was your week? What have you got to be grateful for? I am glad today has already started out slower than last Monday :) . I would love to hear how you are doing, leave me and comment and let me know. Have a great week everyone! Angela

Grateful Mondays 11/14/2011

14 Nov

Well, last week  it wasn’t the change in seasons I was sharing, it was some of the current struggles I am experiencing and what I was hoping for. This week I have already had some positive changes come my way. God’s goodness is very real! I am changing jobs next week, and yes, this is a positive thing. I’ve really needed a change, and everything opened up for me on Wednesday. :) Yay! I am still planning on making some vision boards with the girls, and moving forward with a couple of personal business ideas: alterations and maybe some sewn creations as well as continuing with Juice Plus. So the new job will be a great place to start my new beginning.

The recent loss of my friends and family members has made me keenly aware of my own mortality. I have always felt like God has a plan for me. A favorite verse of my friend Kathy’s was Jeremiah 29:11- “I have it all planned out – plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.” Maybe I’ll pull a Cowardly Lion line from the Wizard of Oz: “I do believe! I do believe! I do believe! I do, I do….I do believe…!” Here are the things I am grateful for this week:

1 Family: it was youngest Daughter’s birthday yesterday, I am so grateful for my children and my family.

2. Friends that are loving and caring, standing with you when you have problems and concerns. Thanks for checking on me, listening to me and encouraging me through all of this.

3. New beginnings. New job starts 11/21.

4. Other birthday’s for friends this month, time to get out the cards and let them know how much I love them. :)

5. Celebrating the birthday of grandkids too! My sons youngest son turned 8 last week. It’s amazing how fast the grands are growing.

6. Fall colors! Fall is a beautiful season.

7. I am grateful for my readers. Today I would like to mention Marissa of Me, You and Creamed Corn. :) I love getting to know you all, and Marissa your encouraging words always touch my heart and bring a smile. If any of you have a chance pop over and say hello.

8. I am very grateful for special moments with the grands. The youngest grandaughter popped into my room a couple of days ago and caught me working on some dolls I hope to make and give them for Christmas. I have a face of one finished, and she grabbed it and said: “I love dis!” It took a little coaxing to get it away from her. Already knowing she will love it really made my day.

9. I’m so grateful for Thanksgiving and Christmas! Two wonderful holidays to celebrate all the things we are grateful for and to celebrate with those we love! It’s gonna be so much fun!

10. I am looking forward to the future I am hoping for. I hope you are too.

Pitch Your Tent In The Land Of Hope

Today I want to share a little about where I am spiritually. God is always a part of my life, even though I’m not a blogger that writes only about the things He is doing for me. I’m not called to that, I’m called to this variety of things you have seen and read. But today, I wanna share a little of my current struggles and belief issues.

All around us, God’s goodness is on display. The question is do we see it? The scripture talks about how God was in the midst of people, but they didn’t recognize Him. Too many times, God is working in our lives, showing us favor, protecting us, sending us good things, but we don’t recognize His goodness. For example, if you’re in a crowded parking lot and a car backs out so you can get a front row space, that’s the goodness of God. If you’re going through a difficult time and a friend stops by out of the blue and cheers you up, that’s the goodness of God. David said I have pitched my tent in the land of Hope. What are you hoping for today? Do you need to see goodness and love, favor and hope?  Where have you pitched your tent, what are you believing for today, trusting God to help you with today?

Listening to an old message from Joel Osteen I realized I have not pitched my tent in the land of Hope at all right now, more like the land of being overwhelmed. I wish I had a better job, a better situation at work, my own business, to be able to create the things I see in my head. But I’ve all but given up hope. . . and I didn’t even realize it until I was hanging on to the message being shared. I had almost let go, but this message showed up just in time to help me hold on. A little more of God’s goodness in my life maybe? I think so.

God wants to bring the things I’m hoping for to pass, I need to add my faith to the situation so I can believe these dreams can be reality. Positive thinking and books like the Secret have many of the same principles at work in them. I just don’t have to do it all alone like I’ve been feeling. We really do draw things to us by our belief. Sometimes bad or hard stuff happens that we aren’t hoping or believing for, that is also a part of life. But what am I consciously doing to believe for the changes in my life I want to happen? TD Jakes use to say to “Get ready! Get ready! Get ready!” Another verse just came to mind that talks about having your lamps ready and full of oil instead of needing to run out into the darkness to fill them. It’s time for me to fill my lamp, but what will that mean for me?

Maybe making a vision board would help me, having what I would like to see happen in my life in front of me so I can pray over it, believe for it, hope for it. I think that is part of what God wants me to do to activate my belief that these things can happen. Besides, it’s fun to get out old magazines and cut pictures out and create a scene, kinda like a collage of my future life. I’m sure my granddaughters would like to help me too. :) We can make boards for them too.

I will also be sharing my updated “Plan” in a few days that I was working on back in July. I’ve been updating it, and think it’s time to share it again. That’s another thing I can do to help feed the hope in me. So, what am I grateful for today?

1 & 2.Struggles and God’s goodness: I’m grateful for struggles, so I can see God’s goodness show up and work them out with me.

3. Recognizing God in my life.

4. Parking spaces

5. Precious friends

6. Realizing I can move my tent.

7. Having hope to pitch that tent in.

8. Being reminded my dreams can become a reality.

9. Something good is going to happen to me, that’s trust.

10. For ministers like Joel Osteen and TD Jakes.

11. I am grateful for the ability to “fill my lamp” and move from depression to hope.

12. Fun things to do to encourage myself like the vision board, and the granddaughters to eventually work with to create them.

13. Hope.

Who do you listen to, watch or read for encouragement? I would to have you share in a comment. HOPING :) you have a great week too! Talk to you soon, Angela

Prezzies!

I was talking to a friend over the weekend, and admitted to her that I fight to put this list together most of the time. It isn’t that I don’t have things I’m grateful for, or that I can’t admit it. It’s just very hard for me to intentionally write this list out, I have a lot of crap that seems to happen regularly. In the last few weeks I’ve lost family members and friends, I truly believe each one of them is now in Heaven, but the grief process is real too. Unfortunately other hard things are going on in my life, and as I’m sure you all know there is no pause button for us to hit to slow things down for awhile. :) I work very hard to remember that gratitude is a gift, a gift from us to God saying thank you and a gift from God to us of things to be grateful for. I hope those of you who are joining in with Ann Voskamp at Holy Experience to write these lists are not having the battle I seem to be, but if you are in this battle, don’t stop now. You don’t want to make camp in a hard place, keep moving! And just like me, keep writing out these lists so we can always be grateful. So, here is my latest edition.

Halloween preparations! The grandkids are so excited, and we worked very hard to let them play dress up and have fun. The picture of the jack-o-lantern from my Friday post was the one that the 7 year old did, almost all by herself. :) She and all 4 of her cousins made them at her aunt and uncle’s house a couple of weeks ago. It’s been so warm here that jack didn’t last through ’til Halloween, but we do have a few good pictures of him. It was all around fun!

Tuesday ended up being a very special if sad day. A very dear friend passed away last weekend, and I was able to finally spend some time with his wife and share in some of her shock at what had happened. We were able to share some wonderful memories, and I’m sure there will be much more of that to come at his memorial service today. I am extremely grateful for both of these friends, they have always been tried and true friends. No matter how long it is in between our visits, we ALWAYS pick up on the same page we left off on. They have been wonderful loving and encouraging friends since the first day we met. Eeyore, we will always love you and remember you. You showed us all what it meant to be a loving man of God and a true friend.

Wednesday was a business day I was grateful for. I am part of a networking group, and we had a wonderful meeting with lots of visitors. The room was buzzing as we were all trying to get to know everyone, and as far as I know everyone enjoyed it. It was just one of those days that for me, everything came together. I think having so many new visitors perked us all up, and one of our members always does a showcase. Nicole Martin of Raspberry Moon Skin Therapy did ours this time, and everyone enjoyed her talk. She did a fabulous job. As I said, all in all it was a great meeting, and really helped me have a  better week.

Friday I was able to see my friend Roxana, who is home for a few weeks. She and her family have been living overseas. We use to talk nearly every day, with the time difference and distance we don’t get to do that right now. But we certainly made up for it Friday! :) . At least I did. I’m pretty sure I did the most talking, but having her there was so much fun! And she brought me the nice prezzies in the picture above. Wonderful chocolate, which she knows I adore, and even some lovely elephant coasters and a business card box. There was also a few pieces of the softest cotton that didn’t make it into the picture she found somewhere for me. I can’t wait to turn that into something! So lots and lots to be grateful for here. :)

Saturday I was spoiled. Boyfriend and I both had massages and I also got to have my ears candled. I have been sick with odd things, mostly sinusy type stuff, the last few weeks. I didn’t realize it, but my hearing was affected by all that gunk in my head as well as my vision. After the candling (2 for the right ear thank you very much!) I immediately knew my hearing was improved, and as we were walking out of the spa I realized I was seeing much more clearly than when I walked in. The funny thing was until both of these things improved I hadn’t realized I was having a problem with them. Thanks, Donna Beseda, for helping me. :)

On the way home we saw several gorgeous trees in their fall foliage. It’s not a full blown color fest here yet, but lots of trees are changing color. Here are a few of the pictures I took….

Saving the best for last.

God has blessed me, and I am grateful. I have wonderful friends and some great experiences to share because of that. Hope you are able to think of things you are grateful for too. There’s a saying on Pinterest that I like: Dear God: I wanna take a minute, not to ask for anything from You, but simply to say, “Thank You!” for all that I have. Thank You God. :) Thank you dear reader and friend, I appreciate you all so much! Have a wonderful grateful week! Angela

Roses!

So many times little things happen to brighten my day, and I don’t always grab them and hold on to them. Having this weekly post is helping me see those moments and appreciate them more. From what I read of other bloggers doing this, the same is happening to them too. Life always has problems, the Bible talks about there always being wars and famine among us. Isn’t it nice to fine tune and learn how to appreciate the sweet moments in life as well as having to deal with the not-so-sweet? Here are a few more moments of gratitude from me.

Monday, 10/17 – The picture above is what I came home to, a rose bush still blooming in October! I love my rose bush.

Tuesday, 10/18 – having someone tell me how sweet I was just for helping them find a phone number. :) The person who called our office wasn’t looking for us at all, but it only took me a minute to look up what they needed on the internet. Admittedly, very often I am not that nice. But I felt led to help them and she responded so sweetly, it made me stop and appreciate the moment. Kinda like when I helped Shirley at the gas station. I normally wouldn’t get that involved with a perfect stranger, but I was really glad I helped her.

Wednesday, 10/19 – a sudden death in my family was a reason to celebrate a wonderful loving life. The life of my cousin, Linda Lou. It was a sad but very sweet time of remembering how much she meant to so many of us. Literally hundreds of people filled the funeral home to pay their respects. It was amazing to see how many people this fun-loving, warm, strong woman touched. It was also time to check in with the family you don’t get to see that often, and be reunited with those you had lost touch with. It was so sad, but so joyful at the same time. She loved the Lord, and her family and friends. It really was a wonderful thing to sit and hear and share in.

Thursday – 10/20 -  Son-in-law accidentally cut the end of one of his fingers off! I am glad I work close enough to home to get there so Daughter could rush him to emergency and let him be taken care of. The granddaughters and I had dinner and played dress up and watched cartoons, especially the Mickey Mouse show. That is the little 2 year olds, “fav-rit schow.” She doesn’t sit still for much, but when Mickey is on and calling for his “toodles,” he has her full attention! I have to admit that it wore me out :) . But the time spent with the girls is always worth it….and Son-In-Law is doing just fine….

Friday – 10/21 – A planned night of babysitting so both Daughters and a few friends could go to a Murder Mystery Dinner Theater. I am so glad they were able to go and enjoy it. I didn’t play too much with the girls that night, because when Boyfriend is there, they only have eyes for him. :) It was a really good night overall. We just had a little trouble convincing the 2 year old it was time to get out of the tub. But again, Mickey to the rescue. She was distracted long enough to get dried off and then get a little more play time in before bed. Love ‘em!

The weekend was game night at friends where as usual I lost again. Hehehe. No surprises there. Although when I was coming in 2nd out of 5 for about 5 minutes, that was fun. I am very proud of my perfect record there. I ALWAYS lose when playing by myself. But when I’m playing as a team we often win. Either way we always laugh until my face hurts! Good times, good food, good friends! What could be better…..

Now it’s off to celebrate a birthday with gifts and sushi, so I will leave you with a couple of pictures to help explain the wonders of sushi, one of our favorite meals! Yum!

Another wonderful week full of the blessings of wonderful friends and family, good food and good fun! Hope you have a wonderful week as well….Angela

17 Oct

I have been sick for around 2 weeks. I’m just starting to feel like myself again, and I am really grateful for that today! I am not a good patient in my opinion. Give me a week off for vacation, great. But being forced to stay home because I’m too sick to work? Not my idea of a holiday, thank you! But I managed to recover and am mostly back up and at it now. How are you with forced rest? Is it something you can embrace, or do you fight it like me? I really would like for you to share your stories with me, either to commiserate or to give me the understanding I need to not resent these times so much. Any takers?

So, getting better is my number one thing to be grateful for today. Here are a few other things I appreciate:

Fuzzy, warm socks….an absolute must in my life, and I love them dearly! My feet are like little chunks of ice, and these kind of socks help thaw my toes out.

I have the soundtrack and the music inspired by the first Narnia movie, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. This movie meant a lot to me when it was released, and the music still encourages and inspires me. If you enjoyed the movie, you would love the music too. I’ve listened to it a lot recently.

Clean sheets after a night of breaking your temperature. Cleaning up after that, putting on clean pj’s and having a clean bed after that doesn’t just feel good, it feels heavenly!

Unexpected laughter! I am so grateful we have been made with the ability to find things fun and funny and to laugh and enjoy them. My favorite laughs are those surprising ones, where a friend says something completely by surprise and you just burst out laughing from it. My grandkids cause this to happen quite regularly too. :)

I am so grateful my parents liked to take pictures of me and my sister when we were little. I don’t have many of them, but each one I do have I treasure. It’s just nice to have them and remember the times we were sharing as a family. I also love pictures of my parents and grandparents, and I have even fewer of those. But each one I have is special.

I am grateful we had Sears Wishbooks when I was growing up. It was the high light of my year for that catalog to come in the mail. My sister and I would start pouring over it, looking through each and every page for hours on end, picking out things we loved and things we hated, things we thought were funny and things we didn’t always understand what they were. That book was where a lot of our Christmas presents were gonna come from too. There is a nice web site I just found, WishbookWeb, and they have several vintage catalogs you can reminisce with. If you are too young to know what I’m talking about, this web site might give you a decent idea of that too. It’s just fun to look at all the differences in things then and now too.

Another thing to be grateful for: Fall! Beautiful colors, crisp sound of crunching leaves and cooler weather! I’m sure I will share a few pictures as soon as I get outside with my camera. Have a great week everyone! Angela

You got that right Snoopy!

Grateful Mondays – 10/10/11

10 Oct

Today is another one of our binary days this year. In some language definitions the number ten represents God’s willing hand to help, while the number eleven is defined as a theme of revelation. Ten also is one of the numbers that represents completeness and order. All sounds like pretty good stuff doesn’t it? So for me I will say today represents God’s willing hand to help reveal completeness and order in my life. I would really love that and be grateful for it too. :)

Other simple things I am grateful for today: the way my grandchildren’s hands feel in mine. I love the feel of their hands when they are tiny, and mine seems so big. I love their hands when they are bigger too, holding on not because they have to but because they want to. Isn’t that nice?

I love it when my bed has fresh sheets on it. They smell so good! It is a pleasure to lay my head down on that pillow and go to sleep!

I love the way I feel when I am looking for Boyfriend in a crowded place, and suddenly I see him! It’s such a nice feeling to find the person you are looking for in a crowd.

I appreciate fresh brewed coffee in a way I can’t describe. I’ve mentioned before that it is almost like I have a relationship with coffee, and I do love it very much. It’s not just the caffeine fix, or the taste. Drinking my first hot cup of the day makes me feel ready…..ready to face life and enjoy it. Then in a little while when the feeling is slightly fading, I will enjoy my second cup as well.

Another thing I’m always grateful for: leftover time. Specifically today it is leftover time on a parking meter. It’s really great when it’s enough time for you to run in and grab whatever you need at the store you were going to, and not have to feed the meter at all. Nice, very nice.

I appreciate dreams. One of the quotes I shared Friday said I wish I could record my dreams and watch them later. I really do too. Sometimes my dreams are scary, but mostly my dreams are full of color and lots and lots of activity. Sometimes I feel like they are talking to me too, so I would really love to be able to save those and watch again. Do you dream any? I know some people don’t, some do only a little. It’s fascinating how different we all are.

I appreciate sunny days. We had a lot of rain a couple of weeks ago, and I began to feel like I was living in a box or something. It was just wonderful when the sun came out one afternoon! I immediately felt better, and I love to watch the sunlight fall through windows and shades in the afternoon. It almost makes me feel like someone just gave me a hug.

I am always so grateful for finishing new projects! I love the feeling of accomplishment I have.

Watching movies. I love movies, and when you have seen a really good one you walk away with such a good feeling. I do have my favorites of course, and I know they are faves because of the way they make me feel. Is that why you love certain movies too, because of how they make you feel?

Another thing I am also tickled pink with is clean hair! I love the way clean hair smells, looks and feels….I grab the granddaughters regularly after their baths and tell them how good they smell. :)

Simple gratitude. To be simply grateful. How much time do we really spend on either of these things? I think if I spent a little more time in gratitude it would help strengthen and encourage me. What about you? I would love to hear some of the simple things you are grateful for. Thanks! Angela

Grateful Mondays 10/03/2011

03 Oct

Hope you are as happy about the arrival of fall as I am! We have had several days now of nicer weather, the temperature is down about 10-12 degrees, and I am enjoying it! So this week my gratitude list will start with this, being grateful for nice temperatures and the beginning of fall! Here are a few other somewhat eclectic things I appreciate right now…

I am grateful for my Daddy! We just celebrated his 75th birthday. Love you, Daddy! Daughter made her wonderful Chicken Alfredo too, another of mine and the family’s favorite things!

I am so grateful for nature, the sounds, the smells, the colors! Whether the bright red of fall leaves or the bright colors of flowers in the spring, to the stark white of winter snow, I love them all!

I love the smell of fresh popped popcorn. Hot popcorn is the best! What are foods you love to smell?

I love to read books, I just don’t do it enough. I really do appreciate my public library, ’cause I could NEVER afford all the books I love!

I am grateful for Pinterest, a website I use to help me keep up with things I don’t want to loose or forget about, things I want to make in the future and sometimes things that just make me smile. You can click on the little red button in my sidebar if you want to check it out. It’s free and really easy to use. Just don’t waste your whole life on it, we do that enough now with Facebook right? :)

I am so grateful for my grandbabies! I love being a Nanny. If you’re a grandparent you know just what I mean! For those parents out there that aren’t sure their kids are gonna survive their own childhood, don’t kill the kids yet! One day, they give you grandkids and I promise that is a wonderful thing! Life is so busy I don’t get to see some of mine nearly enough to suit me, but I love every minute we have together….

I am grateful for games and friends and family to play them with. Right now our favorites are Scrabble, Little Big Planet and Apples to Apples*. Little Big Planet can also be my biggest frustration too when I can’t get my little sackgirl to cooperate. :) What are your game favorites?

I love using chop sticks. I think it is a fun way to eat, I am grateful for the fun and the fact that I can’t stuff my mouth with too much at once.

I love the smell and feel of leather boots, and I have enough Native America in me to appreciate the cow who gave them to me.

This week I am also grateful for clever sayings that bring a smile to my day: “If Plan A fails, remember that you have 25 letters left.” :) Also: “Gratitude turns what we have into enough.” Hope you don’t need those 25 other letters this week and that we all realize we have enough. Thanks! Talk to you later, Angela
