I Am Thankful

08 May

It’s so easy to forget in the busyness of our everyday lives to stop for a moment and be grateful for the myriad blessings we each have. I know I started my gratitude page but don’t update it nearly often enough. I am planning on changing that, starting with this post. Each Monday I will be sharing a new list of things I am grateful for. If over time I end up repeating myself, I won’t worry about it. I just want to be more conscious about how I live my life, and not be such a grumbler and complainer. I may not be really bad at either of those things, but I want to share more about the wonderful things in my life I am grateful for too.

So, my plan is to make a weekly list and add 5 things a day to it and make that my following Monday post. We will see if my plan works :) . Today, I am just gonna write out several things I can remember being grateful for this past week.

Alice painted my roses for me

1. Roses. My tiny little rosebush has performed beautifully this year. Each beautiful red blossom cheers my heart when I walk past it to and from my car. I’m very glad we planted it last year.

2. Honeysuckle blooming at home and at my office. Smelling the sweet fragrance in the air reminds me of my childhood. My granny loved a scent called Honeysuckle by Avon, they probably still make it. It really did smell like the flowers, and I loved the way it smelled on her. She would buy my sister and I a little roll-on bottle of it every now and then, and as I said the fragrance always reminds me of this part of my childhood.

3. Grandbaby artwork. They color pages for me and hand them out with special flair. It’s always fun to receive them too. Love it!

4. I’m grateful for all the times my daughter cooks dinner for us, because when she can’t my cooking is a super poor substitute, to the point that I usually don’t even try to cook for myself anymore. I will just nibble on what we have on hand if she is away and can’t cook. She made me a WONDERFUL Chicken Alfredo dinner for Mother’s Day along with a chocolate cake, yum!

5. My other daughter gave me sweet prezzies that I will get to enjoy, 2 books and my very own set of Ruby Red slippers, tiny replicas from the Wizard of Oz. It was great! I am grateful for the thoughtful gifts they both gave me.

6. I’m grateful for the Mother’s Day greetings I got from my sweet son and lovely daughter-in-law as well. It was a wonderful Mother’s Day.

7. I’m grateful for old friends who reach out to me, and renew our wonderful friendships. Things like that are always such a blessing!

8. I’m grateful for a new friends I have on Facebook that live all over the country. It has been so much fun cutting up with them and laughing with each other over hilarious stuff….I guess that makes me grateful for Facebook too.

9. I’m grateful I have my job. My customers can make life challenging sometimes, but so far we have figured out how to handle every situation they have handed us. I am also very grateful for my past and current co-workers.

10. I am grateful for all the stuff I got done this weekend! I had let my ‘stuff’ explode all over my room. I was able to get it ALL cleaned and straightened and now feel so much better!

I will end with this for today. I really had a good week, even though it had it’s challenges. It’s nice to be able to give the good things more credit than the bad. Please share the things you are grateful for in a comment. I would love to celebrate with you too. Hope you all have a wonderful week, talk to you soon! Angela

Azaleas In Wonderland

20 Apr

Recently we went to an estate sale that didn’t work out to have any thing I wanted to buy. But there was a beautiful yard full of all kinds of flowers, including lots of azaleas. I didn’t see any rabbits or rabbit holes, but there were a few squirrels. It reminded me a lot of my grandma’s yard. She loved flowers too and had all kinds. Here are a few choice shots:

Big Dogwood!

Close up!

I’m not sure what this last one is called, it was close to the ground and had spiky green foliage. It was a nice yard, you could tell the lady had put a lot of years of hard work into it. If it had been my grandmother’s there would have also been several irises as well. It was still a lovely yard. Hope you’re week is blooming with possibilities! Angela
